Our operations at the Voimakatu site have been growing rapidly due to Rostis and international expansion. We had noticed that our logistics needed more clarity and a more sensible setup. We were looking for external support and benchmarking, especially regarding the efficiency of the receiving process and the current state of the layout. We wanted to know whether our existing warehouse space was being used efficiently.

Ziirto carried out task analysis for our logistics processes and created a plan to use both the receiving area and the warehouse more efficiently. From Ziirto’s development engineer we received clear assessments of where we have succeeded and where there is still room to improve. We got concrete short- and long-term development plans that make it safe for us to grow and expand our operations.

Outcome

With the improvements from the development project, we were able to increase warehouse capacity by 44% and improve the receiving process efficiency by 29%.

After the first project, our collaboration expanded into a new development initiative aimed at better use of barcodes, and we are planning a second Ziirto Work Study 360™ project for the spring.

Leipomo Rosten Oy

Leipomo Rosten Oy is a family-owned company based in Turku, owned by the Meltovaara family, with long traditions in baking fresh, great-tasting bread. At Rosten, we have baked bread and pastries for over eighty years.

Leipomo Rosten Oy is part of the Leipomo Rosten Group, which also includes two Pekan Leipä Oy bakeries in Heinola and Sirkiän Leipomo in Turku. Sirkiän Leipomo was fully merged into Leipomo Rosten Oy on 1 January 2020. The bakery group’s revenue is approximately €25 million, and it employs around 200 professionals.
